Art Rymer is someone who works for the people of Tennessee – not out-of-state billionaires.
Originally born and raised in the New Orleans area, Art now calls Chattanooga, Tennessee home. He was attracted to the area for its wonderful outdoors, low cost of living, and world-class fiber internet. Since moving to Chattanooga, Art has become an investor in Fitness Central, a locally-owned gym with two locations.
Since moving to Tennessee, Art has paid close attention to the shenanigans that have taken place in the political arena, both locally and statewide. And nothing spells “shenanigans” more than the rampant nepotism of some of our county and state politicians. Most of the people who represent Art in local and state government are beneficiaries of nepotism. None are more noticeable than the Helton-Haynes family:
- Esther Helton-Haynes (incumbent representative of Tennessee State House District 30)
- Marty Haynes (Hamilton County tax assessor, and Esther’s second husband)
- Lee Helton (Hamilton County commissioner, son from Esther’s first marriage)
Not only are nepo-politicians bad enough… it’s even worse when they don’t represent you; instead, they represent those who paid them. Companies like HCA Healthcare, CoreCivic, and Amazon give politicians like Esther Helton-Haynes lots of “donations” in order to write legislation that works for them – not you.
If they’re not doing that, they’re doing performative B.S. that doesn’t help Tennesseans at all. When they get called out on it, they melt like snowflakes and go to their “safe spaces.”
As someone who is on the autism spectrum, this is probably one of the scariest things Art has ever done – and he’s been skydiving! That being said, when the situation calls for it, you have to have the testicular fortitude to go to work.
Art has an investment mindset, but he believes that investing in the people of Tennessee will provide the best returns. That means:
- Properly funded public school systems with properly paid teachers that can teach our children critical thinking skills; none of this voucher crap that benefits rich families in Belle Meade and Brentwood, who get a discount on private school tuition where their children are indoctrinated with PragerU AI slop that dares to say things such as, “Slavery wasn’t bad for the slaves!”
- A healthcare system where you don’t have to choose between medical treatment versus food/rent.
- A tax system that pays for our needs without putting the most burden on those who can least afford it, which includes the regressive grocery sales tax that must be repealed.
- Working towards responsible energy policy, with a focus on renewable energy to protect our wonderful outdoor environment, as well as investing in reducing energy usage in homes and business without sacrificing comfort. AI slop “data centers” are a waste of water and electricity, and must be stopped
- Letting all Tennesseans live their lives without harassment or hate, as long as they are not hurting themselves or others. And when it comes to hurting, he means actual hurt, not perceived hurt (“Oh no, my child saw a drag queen with their own two eyes, ThEyR’e GoInG tO hElL!”)
Right now, the cult in power in the Tennessee General Assembly is too busy collecting checks to care about the people of Tennessee. Instead, let’s #EvictEstherInNovember and send Art Rymer there, so we’ll have someone who works for you!
Some Other Fun(?) Facts About Art:
- Born on the Fourth of July!
- Eagle Scout
- Conossieur of the finest yacht rock (but his music playlist makes those radio stations that say they play “whatever they want” look tiny in comparison!)
- Mediocre sim racer (but he has raced – and been beaten by – real-world NASCAR and IndyCar drivers!)
And now… to close this section out, here’s a dad joke from eSports commentator Dylan Connolly:
“If Pablo Picasso were a rapper, would he be an… Art Rymer?”
